We defend peace through science
Our philosophy stands on a simple premise: safety is not a gift, it is a consequence. A consequence of education, preparedness, technology and institutions that work even under pressure. And these pillars do not stand by themselves — someone has to build them.
The Institute of Advanced Studies was founded with the ambition to be one of the places where this construction happens openly, scientifically and for the benefit of society — not for marketing or short-term projects.
Three principles we follow
1. Truth before effect
Modestly published verified data beats flashy marketing around an unsolved problem. Our work is only as good as the trust it earns under repeated scrutiny.
2. Cooperation before competition
The strongest problems of our time — from cybersecurity to soils and public health — are systemic. They cannot be solved within a single discipline. We connect researchers who master their domain and are willing to listen to others.
3. Usefulness before prestige
A scientific career can be about headlines, or about footprints we actually leave. We choose the latter. The value of research is measured by whether and how it helps.
Whom we work for
- For municipalities and the public sector that need an independent expert voice.
- For the academic community, with which we connect theory and practice.
- For the expert and general public, to whom we owe clearly communicated results.
- And ultimately for future generations, who will live with the decisions made today.
