Who we are
The Institute of Advanced Studies (IOAS) is an independent non-profit association based in Trenčín, Slovakia. It brings together researchers, academics and practitioners working in cybersecurity, biotechnology, non-destructive testing (NDT), sensors and public health.
Our motto — We defend peace through science — captures the view that unites us: society’s safety is not only the task of security forces, but also a result of honest scientific work and critical thinking.
What we do
- Applied research in cybersecurity, NDT and intelligent sensors
- Biotechnology projects connecting ecology, IoT and communication systems
- Public health and prevention — virtual reality, telemedicine and advanced diagnostics
- Education and outreach — lectures, publications and open dialogue with both expert and general public
- Consulting for municipalities, the private sector and government institutions
- Specialised models of physical and metrological artificial intelligence — a physical model at the core, quantified uncertainty and a result verifiable by measurement
- AI security audit — security of large language models deployed in your own infrastructure: attack surface, shadow AI, data protection and control of inputs and outputs
- Compliance with upcoming Slovak and EU legislation — the AI act being prepared in Slovakia, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, the Data Act and Act No. 69/2018 Coll. on cybersecurity as amended by Act No. 366/2024 Coll.
